Some of you may think that the poodle on the right is being, let’s say, a bit over-pampered - but care and grooming do play a vital part in your dog’s health.

Short-haired dogs shouldn’t be ignored, either. They need a good brush now and again and it’ll help you to work off some calories into the bargain!

Long-haired dogs must of course be groomed properly if they are not to end up looking like walking hedgerows and it’s as well to learn how to do this properly.

A good way to find the right way to brush and groom your dog is to ask at your local dog grooming parlour - they will usually happily show you the basics of how to do this task as it makes their lives easier come the next visit!

So always look to your dog’s care and make sure he or she is always clean and groomed - after all, how would you feel if you never got a bath or brushed your hair!
